Job Summary

We are seeking a highly motivated and dedicated Special Education Paraprofessional to join our team at Independent School District 196. As a key member of our educational support staff, you will play a vital role in providing assistance to students with special needs, ensuring their academic and personal success.

Responsibilities
  • Assist teachers and nurses in collecting and maintaining data related to student progress.
  • Implement intervention strategies developed by licensed staff to support student learning.
  • Implement behavior intervention plans and health plans to promote student well-being.
  • Assist with crisis interventions and discipline, ensuring a safe and supportive learning environment.
  • Develop and implement sensory activities to support student engagement and learning.
  • Provide individualized instruction to students following programs designed by lead teachers.
  • Assist with independent study and reinforce lessons with small groups of students.
  • Work collaboratively with teachers, nurses, and other support staff to ensure a comprehensive and inclusive educational experience.
Requirements
  • High school diploma and two years of college or an Associate's degree or a passing score on the ParaEducator test.
  • Effective behavior management and health support skills, with the ability to maintain routine in a student's day.
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills for interactions with staff, students, and parents.
  • Experience working in a center-based and inclusion setting, with a focus on supporting students with diverse needs.
  • Ability to perform essential job functions, including toileting, catheters, lifting, medication administration, gastric tube feedings, and health tasks to support students.
