Responsibilities:

- Assess the diagnostic requirements of students concerning language, speech, and hearing issues based on input from school staff, parental concerns, classroom evaluations, and the child's background.

- Identify individuals who demonstrate language, speech, or hearing disorders accurately and efficiently. Collect diagnostic data through standardized and informal assessments along with classroom observations.

- Conduct thorough examinations and diagnostic procedures to determine the nature, cause, and severity of specific disabilities related to language, speech, or hearing disorders.

- Develop, implement, and adjust suitable treatment plans for individuals diagnosed with language, speech, or hearing disorders, ensuring effective program execution.

- Act in a consultative capacity to design and implement language and speech enhancement programs.

- Communicate diagnostic results and interpretations to team members to assess the impact of language, speech, or hearing disorders on the child's academic performance.

- Collaborate with team members to create effective educational strategies for students.

- Work with teachers, parents, and other professionals to explore and apply appropriate methods to address each child's communication needs.

- Serve as a knowledgeable resource in language, speech, and hearing skills.

- Engage in continuous professional development through various activities.

- Perform additional related duties as necessary to support the effective operation of the work unit and enhance student learning outcomes.


Essential Skills:

- Master's Degree in Speech Language Pathology
- Washington State ESA Certification as a Speech Language Pathologist
- Experience in public school environments as a Speech Language Pathologist
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team
- Proficiency in computer usage and related software
- Maintain positive working relationships with colleagues, parents, and community members
- Demonstrate cultural competence and adaptability to changing situations
- Organize tasks, prioritize effectively, and follow instructions
- Adhere to school board policies and administrative procedures
