Job Summary: We are seeking a highly skilled Physician Specialist (Psychiatrist) to provide direct clinical care to state prisoners in the Central Region facilities. The successful candidate will work collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams to maintain effective communication with staff and administration.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide assessments, direct clinical care and treatment planning to inmates
- Conduct comprehensive psychiatrist assessments for new admissions to UCHC's Special Needs roster according to established timeframes
- Maintain knowledge of and follow DOC and UCHC policies and procedures, including emergency and non-emergency forced medication, management of potentially suicidal inmates, psychiatry services, and therapeutic restraint
- Order, initiate and interpret laboratory tests as medically necessary, including metabolic monitoring, mood stabilizer blood levels, thyroid function, AIMS testing, and other appropriate biochemical monitoring
- Presume and renew medications that are deemed medically necessary within required time frames
- Utilize soporifics and benzodiazepines sparingly and document rationale for their use
- Conduct civil psychiatric commitment evaluations and identify individuals who need placement on "suicide watch" or higher levels of care
Requirements:
- Certified by the American Board Psychiatry and Neurology (ABPN) in Psychiatry with valid NJ medical license, CDS and NJ DEA
- Computer Literacy and Valid Driver's License
Salary and Benefits: The estimated salary range is $134,000 - $272,000 per year, depending on experience. Our comprehensive benefit program includes health insurance, retirement plan, paid time off, and opportunities for professional development. The position requires a full onsite work arrangement and is exempt from overtime pay.
