Position Overview

The Office of Data Security Management (ODSM) is seeking a qualified individual to join our team as a Cybersecurity Application Specialist. This role is essential in enhancing the security framework of our software applications throughout their development lifecycle.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct comprehensive application security evaluations and code reviews during the software development lifecycle (SDLC).
  • Identify, analyze, and manage vulnerabilities within our systems.
  • Provide consistent updates regarding the security status of software applications across the organization.
  • Implement and oversee automated secure coding tools and processes (SAST, DAST) to ensure code security from development to production.
  • Detect and mitigate viruses and malicious software.
  • Collaborate with information security analysts to enhance web application penetration testing methodologies.
  • Gather, analyze, and prioritize information from various threat intelligence sources.
  • Develop monitoring processes for active system users to ensure appropriate usage and access.
  • Assist in conducting periodic security risk assessments and IT security audits.
  • Establish and enforce application security policies, procedures, and standards.
  • Maintain communication with technical personnel from federal and state agencies regarding security protocols.
  • Support investigations by providing necessary log data and scanning for unauthorized software.
  • Prepare and organize responses to security audits from internal and external entities.

Work Schedule:
Standard hours from 9 am to 5 pm.

Qualifications:

Applicants must possess:

  • A bachelor's degree in computer science or a related field, including 24 semester credits in computer science, along with two years of relevant software experience, or
  • A high school diploma with six years of relevant software experience, including one year in a leadership role, or
  • A combination of education and experience equivalent to the above requirements.
