Legrand offers an exciting opportunity for a Quality Control Inspector to be part of the Data, Power & Control Division in Farmingdale, NY.
We have two openings available, one for the first shift (7:00-3:30pm EST) and another for the second shift (3:30 - midnight EST). This role is essential for verifying that the final product meets both functional and aesthetic standards as per customer requirements, documenting any discrepancies, and maintaining relevant records.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct initial inspections for sheet metal, welded, and painted components
- Ensure adherence to all specifications, customer demands, and company protocols
- Perform detailed visual inspections of final products to detect defects or deviations from quality benchmarks and customer specifications
- Utilize measuring instruments and equipment to confirm dimensional precision
- Verify that products comply with specifications outlined in spec sheets, bills of materials, and AQL standards
- Audit production lines to document and record essential production metrics
- Execute pallet inspections to guarantee proper packaging prior to shipping
- Complete final inspection documentation
- Ensure accuracy and organization of inspection records in the database
- Carry out touch-ups as required
- Fulfill assigned tasks within specified timeframes and according to established standards
- Follow directives provided by the supervisor
- Comply with all company safety regulations and contribute to safety initiatives and enhancements
- Collaborate with colleagues to maintain a safe working environment
- Keep the assigned workspace clean and organized
- Perform additional duties as assigned
Education: A High School diploma or equivalent is mandatory
Experience: A minimum of 3 years of relevant experience is required
Skills/Knowledge/Abilities:
- Ability to read and interpret purchase orders, specification sheets, and bills of materials is essential
- Basic understanding of sheet metal, welding, and machining processes is necessary
- Previous experience in reading engineering blueprints is required
- Proficiency in using calipers and basic measuring tools for quality assurance is needed
- Basic knowledge of ISO standards is preferred
- Strong organizational skills are crucial
- Meticulous attention to detail is essential
- Willingness to work overtime when necessary
- Ability to arrive punctually for shifts and stand or walk for the duration of the shift is required
- Capability to read, hear, speak, kneel, bend, and use a step ladder or stool is necessary
- Able to lift up to 45 pounds is required
- Ability to work in a manufacturing environment is essential
