Position Summary:

The Field Engineer III will be responsible for overseeing and executing project controls and management across multiple disciplines. Key responsibilities include supporting a Craft Superintendent, managing quantity collection, scheduling, contract administration, project planning, procurement, and reporting.

This role necessitates collaboration with all stakeholders impacted by the project, including clients, engineering/design teams, subcontractors, vendors, and ongoing strategic communication with project management regarding project status.

Essential Job Functions:
  • Represent the company professionally in all client interactions.
  • Provide clients with contract-required reports on a regular basis.
  • Adhere to the Corporate Safety Plan and site-specific safety protocols.
  • Conduct quantity calculations through measurements and assess the percentage of completed work.
  • Establish processes for creating and reviewing work plans and packages.
  • Support the communication of the site quality plan and ensure timely completion of inspections and quality documentation.
  • Manage the compilation and approval of daily labor timesheets.
  • Distribute weekly Average Labor Rate to front-line supervision.
  • Train craft and staff employees on completing Job Safety Analyses (JSA).
  • Participate in or lead jobsite safety reviews and training sessions.
  • Order and schedule material deliveries while developing procurement status reports.
  • Plan, schedule, and coordinate work groups on-site.
  • Perform material takeoffs from drawings and specifications.
  • Assist engineers in gathering and preparing data for submissions to clients and vendors.
  • Prepare field-issued purchase orders and subcontracts.
  • Oversee procurement and subcontract administration functions.
  • Provide field support and supervise subcontractor operations.
  • Manage project recordkeeping and correspondence functions.
  • Create and monitor project controls, including productivity tracking and risk logs.
  • Develop and maintain the master project schedule.
  • Generate change orders and as-built data for review.
  • Drive the planning process through various scheduling techniques.
  • Assist the Project Manager with accounting and job cost updates.
  • Lead the budgeting process by converting estimates to standard phase codes.
  • Notify the Project Manager of trends in labor, material, and equipment costs.
  • Manage cost forecasting for the entire project.
  • Establish cash flow forecasts to ensure positive cash flow.
  • Act as the primary company representative when directed.
  • Understand the provisions and scope of the Prime contract.
  • Prepare the Schedule of Values and invoices for clients.
Supervisory Responsibilities:
  • Support a crew of up to 50 personnel as needed.
  • Lead 1-2 Field Engineers.
  • Oversee a portion of the field office staff, including engineers and document control personnel.
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in engineering, construction management, or a related field.
  • Three to five years of experience as a Field Engineer or in a similar capacity.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
  • Familiarity with health and safety programs and project-specific regulations.
  • Active participation in daily toolbox meetings.
  • Ability to read and analyze engineering plans and specifications.
  • Willingness to travel extensively and relocate as required.
  • Strong work ethic and commitment to safety.
Physical Demands:
  • Ability to perform physically demanding tasks in varying environmental conditions.
  • Must be able to lift and carry objects weighing up to 50 pounds.
  • Ability to work at heights and comply with safety requirements.
Hours:

This is a full-time position, typically requiring 50 hours of work per week, subject to project demands.

Travel:

Travel may be required up to 90%, necessitating presence at project sites.
