About the Role

We are seeking a highly motivated Mechanical Engineer, EIT with expertise in HVAC design to join our team in Chelmsford, MA.

The successful candidate will work on detailed engineering assignments involving calculations and relatively simple tests, proposing approaches to solve new problems encountered, and identifying discrepancies in results.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform specific and limited portions of a broader assignment of an experienced engineer.
  • Gather and correlate basic engineering data using established and well-defined procedures.
  • Work on detailed or routine engineering assignments involving calculations and relatively simple tests.
  • Propose approach to solve new problems encountered.
  • Identify discrepancies in results.
  • Provide guidance to entry-level engineers.
  • Perform work in accordance with agreed-upon budget and schedule with moderate supervision.
  • Attend meetings and communicate the job from concept to completion in design.
  • Interact with vendors.
  • Perform HVAC and plumbing calculations using Trace 700 HVAC Software.
  • Create schedules and installation details.
  • Select equipment, including B&G, Trane, Carrier, Cook, Greenheck, etc.
  • Design HVAC and plumbing systems, including load and mechanical calculations, equipment selection, and piping and ductwork distribution system sizing.
  • Interact with local HVAC manufacturers' representatives during the equipment selection process.
  • Prepare mechanical equipment schedules and installation details, including building elevations.
  • Respond to contractor RFI (request for information).
  • Review and approve/reject contractor submittals/shop drawings based on design documents.
  • Perform site visits on existing facilities and new construction.
  • Coordinate with other disciplines during the design and construction phases of every assigned project.
  • Perform mechanical, plumbing, and NFPA codes/standards review.

Requirements

We are looking for a candidate with a BA/BS degree in Mechanical Engineering from an accredited program or other related field, and 2 years of demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education.

Key Requirements:

  • Experience with AutoCAD.
  • Experience with Revit, BIM360, Navisworks, etc.
  • Experience with HVAC Load Calculation software such as Trace 700, Elite, Carrier HAP.
  • EIT/FE.

Preferred Qualifications

We prefer candidates with licensure as a Professional Engineer (PE), 5+ years of related experience, and excellent oral and written communication skills.
