Job Summary

We are seeking a highly qualified Certified Nurses Aid Instructor to join our team at Union County College. The successful candidate will be responsible for developing and implementing the CNA program, teaching students the skills necessary to meet the physical, physiological, and psychological needs of patients, and evaluating student progress.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement CNA course curricula in compliance with state requirements
  • Teach CNA training program using the course curriculum and training on required skills assessment in the clinical lab setting
  • Evaluate and document students' progress through testing, observation, and assessment of skills attained
  • Apply knowledge of the fundamentals of the nursing process, standards of care, and sound decision making and judgment in educational activities involving all levels of patient care personnel within the training program
  • Make learning engaging for students, including facilitation of class discussions and skills instruction
  • Set student expectations and communicate clearly with students and encourage student participation
  • Maintain accurate records on all students, including student files, attendance records, course requirements regarding hours of instruction, and exam pass rates
  • Assist students in registering for the state CNA Licensing Exam
Requirements
  • Associate degree or higher in the nursing field required
  • Registered professional nurse currently licensed by the NJ State Board of Nursing
  • Must have successfully completed a training workshop offered by the NJ State Department of Health for Instructors/Evaluators becoming DOH Certified Nurse Aide Instructor
  • Current basic life support (BLS) certification (preferred)
  • Three years of full-time, or full time equivalent, clinical experience in a healthcare facility
  • Two years teaching experience (preferred)

Physical Demands and Work Environment

This position's duties are normally performed in a typical interior/residence work environment, based on the activity scheduled. Some physical effort required; however, the employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. No or very limited exposure to physical risk. Some travel required.

Salary and Benefits

Union County College offers a comprehensive benefits package for full-time faculty and staff, including twenty medical plans, three dental plans, and a pension plan. We also offer twenty vacation days, ten paid holidays, and a ten week summer work schedule.
