Position Overview:

The Senior Director of Capital Development is tasked with overseeing and directing all capital initiatives within the institution, which encompasses new building projects, facility upgrades, and infrastructure enhancements. This role involves the effective coordination of both internal and external project management resources.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage daily operations of the Capital Development department, ensuring efficient personnel management and the establishment of a robust project controls framework.
  • Guarantee quality assurance, budget adherence, and consistent project execution across campus initiatives.
  • Provide executive-level guidance and support to the Project Management team, ensuring that all projects meet their objectives, are completed on schedule, and align with institutional goals.
  • Assist the Executive Director of Planning, Design, and Construction to facilitate smooth departmental operations and effective management of the Capital Project Program.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • A Master's degree in a relevant field such as Design, Architecture, Engineering, or Construction Management.
  • A minimum of 15 years of progressive experience in design, architecture, engineering, or construction management.
  • At least 7 years of experience as an Owner's Project Representative on significant capital projects within a large organization.
  • Proven experience in supervising personnel and collaborating with cross-departmental teams at an executive level.
  • Hands-on experience managing a large portfolio of projects.
  • Must complete specific training and demonstrate proficiency in relevant licenses and regulations within a year of assignment.
  • Valid OSHA10 certification is required within 6 months of assignment.
  • Strong knowledge of Building Codes, BOCA Codes, and ADA regulations.
  • Ability to interpret CADD drawings and specifications.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Relevant certifications such as Registered Architect, Professional Engineer, or Construction Supervisor.
  • Experience in managing the design and construction of specialized facilities, including laboratories and institutional buildings.
  • Demonstrated expertise in budget management and reporting.
  • Commitment to ongoing professional development.
