Position Overview:

SimVentions, a 100% employee-owned enterprise recognized as one of Virginia's Best Places to Work, is seeking a Senior Software Engineer. This role involves delivering high-level software engineering within an Agile framework, contributing to the integration of robotic and cybernetic systems into a virtual simulation environment. You will collaborate closely with our clients to merge various robotic systems into a gaming platform, thereby enhancing the testing and execution of these systems in simulated scenarios.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Develop a comprehensive understanding of diverse robotic and cybernetic systems.
  • Design, maintain, and update game assets and scripts.
  • Collaborate with team members to facilitate virtual and live testing events.
  • Integrate a variety of technologies and systems into the simulation framework.
  • Support all phases of the system development lifecycle, focusing on software coding, including analysis, requirements definition, design, development, unit testing, and documentation.
Required Qualifications:
  • Must be a U.S. Citizen.
  • A minimum of eight (8) years of software development experience.
  • At least five (5) years of experience with Python.
  • Proficient in documenting software source code, specifications, and manuals.
  • Experience in a Modeling and/or Simulation environment utilizing various technologies.
  • Ability to analyze and reverse engineer interfaces and functionalities from external entities.
  • Strong knowledge of network protocols and interfaces, including TCP/IP, UDP, and serial communications.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Proven ability to collaborate effectively and present results to government and contractor personnel.
  • Adaptability to thrive in a dynamic work environment.
Preferred Skills:
  • Experience in simulation or game development.
  • Familiarity with Arma 3 and/or VBS 3 or 4.
  • Experience in creating and maintaining CI/CD pipelines.
  • Willingness to travel for field test events.
  • Comfortable working in a team and engaging with external entities.
  • Ability to quickly adapt to new requirements.
  • Experience with Agile/SCRUM methodologies.
  • Knowledge of GIT and Jira/Bitbucket.
  • Experience with Hardware-in-the-loop (HWIL) and/or Software-in-the-loop (SWIL) testing.
Education: A Bachelor of Science (BS) degree in an engineering, scientific, or technical discipline from an accredited institution is required.

Clearance: A Secret Clearance is necessary for this position. Selected applicants will undergo a security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information.

Travel Requirements: 10% - Supporting testing exercises.
