Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Software Development Lead to join our team at Valkyrie Enterprises. As a key member of our software development team, you will be responsible for leading the development of new and emerging Navy tactical systems that integrate with the full suite of combat sensors in support of the US Navy. Your expertise in developing and modernizing electronic warfare (EW) systems will be invaluable to our team.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Lead a software engineer team in the development of new and emerging Navy tactical systems.
  • Interface with customers, suppliers, application users, and other technical and support personnel to determine appropriate software standards, processes, procedures, and tools to best achieve project success.
  • Develop and modernize electronic warfare (EW) systems.

Requirements:
  • At least fifteen (15) years of experience in software design, development, and engineering applied to program and system level development.
  • Five (5) years of demonstrated experience in developing real-time system and subsystem level software products, databases (Oracle, MSAccess, etc), knowledge or experience with operating systems (LINUX and MS Windows) and interfaces.
  • Five (5) years of experience or equivalent with Navy or other Armed Services programs and/or systems.
  • Modeling and/or simulations, real-time system control architectures, interface coding, Information Assurance/Cyber Security requirements, Independent Verification and Validation (IV&V) experience, experience and/or ability to code in the following: C++; C #; JAVA; Simu-Link; Python, RTI-DDS, and PLA.
  • Experience developing software to communicate with other hardware using TCP/IP, UDP, and serial communications.
  • Experience in combat system integration and system architecture.
  • Experience with Object Oriented software design concepts.
  • Experience with GNAT Ada compiler; VxWorks; Tornado.
  • Experience Electronic Warfare Systems and other Shipboard systems.
  • Experience with Navy Software Safety and industry best programming practices.
  • Experience with Agile methodology.

Desired Qualifications:
  • Prefer Bachelor's Degree in Software Engineering, Computer Engineering, or Electrical Engineering.
  • Five (5) years of experience or equivalent with Navy or other Armed Services programs and/or systems.
  • Agile methodology & knowledge of GIT, Jira, and BitBucket.
  • Object Oriented software design concepts.
  • DDS Pub/Sub communication.
  • Navy Product Line Architecture.
  • Combat system integration and system architecture.
  • Cloud Computing environments.

Security Requirements:
  • Must be eligible to obtain and maintain a DoD Secret security clearance.

Travel Requirements:
  • Occasional travel- less than 10% (Travel to Dahlgren, VA)
  • If position requires travel by domestic flight or access to secure federal facilities/military bases, candidate must be able to obtain (by start of position) and maintain appropriate identification credentials, such as REAL ID.

Physical Requirements:
  • May require working in an office, industrial, shipboard, or laboratory environment.
  • Remaining in a stationary position, often standing, or sitting for prolonged periods, moving about to accomplish tasks, or moving from one worksite to another.
  • Light work that includes moving objects up to 20 pounds.
