Job Title: Speech Language Therapist

We are seeking a highly skilled Speech Language Therapist to join our team at Avon Community School Corporation. As a Speech Language Therapist, you will be responsible for providing assessment, diagnosis, and treatment of speech and language disorders in students.

Responsibilities:
  • Assist teachers in referring students with suspected speech and language impairments
  • Provide thorough assessment and diagnosis of articulation/phonology, language impairments, voice and fluency
  • Develop and implement individualized therapeutic programs to meet the needs of students with communication disorders
  • Provide screening to identify children with speech and language disorders during annual speech and language hearing screenings
  • Assist in proper referrals of individuals to agencies and specialists in the community as appropriate
  • Provide classroom teachers and other school staff members with suggestions for enhancing students' communication skills through their daily activities
  • Provide information, support, and counseling to parents and families when appropriate
  • Keep thorough ongoing records for the individual student receiving therapy
  • Assume primary responsibility for requisitioning and maintaining needed equipment and supplies
  • Provide in-service education and serve as a consultant to teachers and school staff members on topics concerning speech and language improvement
  • Conduct state mandated hearing screening of grades 1, 4, 7, 10, and students new to the school corporation
  • Be an example of exemplary adult behavior for students
  • Project a genuine care and concern for all students
Requirements:
  • Must have or be qualified to obtain the necessary certification from the Department of Education
  • Candidates with a Master's degree in speech-language pathology and holding the Certificate of Clinical Competence (CCC-Sp or CCC-SLP) preferred
  • We also will consider CF-SLP
Physical Demands:

The employee is regularly required to sit, stand, and use hands to handle or feel objects, tools, or controls and talk or hear. The employee frequently is required to walk, reach with hands and arms, climb, balance, and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
