Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Dietary Aide to join our team at Huntington Drive Health and Rehabilitation Center. As a Dietary Aide, you will play a vital role in ensuring the nutritional needs of our residents are met, while maintaining a clean and safe food service environment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Prepare and serve food that meets the nutritional needs of our residents
  • Work with the Food Service Team to ensure diet is in accordance with residents' nutritional needs
  • Review menus prior to food preparation
  • Handle food in a sanitary manner
  • Prepare and serve dietary trays according to dietary orders
  • Deliver food, nourishments, and supplies to the nursing station/hall on time
  • Coordinate food service with other departments
  • Be responsible for avoiding food wastes
  • Maintain food service equipment
  • Adhere to sanitation and food safety guidelines during meal preparation and clean up
  • Keep work tables clean, meat blocks, refrigerators/freezers, etc.
  • Clean, wash, and sanitize silverware and utensils
  • Assist in the general cleanliness of the kitchen area, including equipment
  • Dispose of food and waste per facility regulations
  • Obtain food supplies for the next meal
  • Stock food in storage areas and refrigerators with the correct dates and labels
  • Follow safety regulations and precautions at all times
  • Adhere to all facility policies and procedures
  • Attend and participate in in-service trainings
  • Maintain confidentiality of all pertinent resident care information
Requirements
  • High school diploma or GED preferred
  • Minimum of 1 year experience in food services
  • Minimum of 1 year experience in dietary department of healthcare or skilled nursing preferred
  • Must be able to cook food in large quantities
  • Must be knowledgeable of food procedures
  • Must be able to read, write, speak, and understand the English language
  • Must be able to follow oral and written instructions
Working Conditions
  • Work environment may be warm
  • May encounter frequent interruptions
  • May be involved with residents, family, and government agencies
  • May be requested to work beyond scheduled working hours at times
  • Is subject to call back during emergency conditions (e.g., severe weather, evacuation, post-disaster, etc.)
  • May be necessary to assist in the evacuation of residents during emergency situations
Physical Requirements
  • Must be able to move intermittently throughout the day
  • Must be able to push, pull, move, and/or lift up to 25 lbs. to a minimum height of 5 feet and be able to push, pull, move, and/or carry such weight a minimum distance of 15 feet
  • Ability to read fine print on labels and menus
