Ryder is seeking a skilled Diesel Mechanic Preventative Maintenance Technician to join our team in Des Moines, IA. As a key member of our maintenance team, you will be responsible for performing routine preventative maintenance, repairs, and diagnostics on heavy-duty vehicles.

Responsibilities:
  • Perform routine preventative maintenance, including oil changes, brake and tire work
  • Diagnose and repair mechanical and electronic problems
  • Perform standard component inspections and repairs
  • Identify root cause of basic failures/conditions and perform repairs as required
  • Replace defective components as instructed
  • Perform facility maintenance duties
  • Interact with customers/drivers to properly determine nature of complaint once assigned a task
  • Utilize key functions of Shop Management System and electronic documentation available
  • Work in accordance with all federal/provincial and corporate compliance guidelines
Requirements:
  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred
  • Vocational or Technical Certification Post Secondary degree or Technical Certifications, preferred
  • Basic tools, required
  • Demonstrated aptitude and applied experience in mechanical repair of automotive gas or diesel engines
  • Two (2) years or more of a combination of classroom training and work experience in required experience, preferred
  • Valid Commercial Driver License (CDL) CLASS A, preferred
