About the Job

We are seeking a highly skilled Dental Hygiene Professional to join our team at Ocean Health Initiatives.

About the Role

The successful candidate will be responsible for providing professional dental care in the field of dental hygiene, including all related clinical procedures. They will have broad responsibilities for clinical and community dental health education activities.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Work under the general supervision of the dentist to perform various dental care tasks.
  • Clean teeth and gums using appropriate dental instruments, ensuring the highest level of patient comfort and care.
  • Examine patients' gums for signs of disease and chart conditions of decay and disease for diagnosis and treatment by the dentist via an electronic medical record system.
  • Apply fluorides and other cavity-preventing agents to arrest dental decay and promote oral health.
  • Provide clinical services and health education to improve and maintain the oral health of school children, as well as follow up with insurance companies for necessary authorizations.
  • Perform supra and sub-gingival scaling and curettage, conduct dental health clinics for community groups, and instruct patients on proper home care techniques for oral hygiene.
  • Screen and evaluate patients regarding cavities detection, periodontal pathology, and medical history, primarily responsible for the initiation and maintenance of the dental prevention and education component of the dental department.
  • Assist in the training of dental assistants and externs, work collaboratively with senior management and management teams to resolve departmental and organizational challenges, and complete all mandatory in-services in a timely fashion.
  • Adhere to Corporate Compliance policies, maintain a passing monthly scorecard threshold, and ensure transparency through accurate project board updates in Monday.com.
About You

To be successful in this role, you will need to have a graduate degree from an accredited school of dental hygiene, an active State of New Jersey Hygienist license, a New Jersey radiological license for dental purposes, and BLS certification for providers through the American Heart Association.

You should also possess proficiency in Microsoft Office 365 and have excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively in a team environment.

What We Offer

We offer a competitive salary of $60,000 - $80,000 per year, paid time off (PTO), holidays (9), health insurance, dental benefits, 401(k) + match, group term life insurance, and flexible spending account.
