About Atrium Health: At Atrium Health, we are dedicated to delivering outstanding financial experiences for our patients. As a Patient Financial Services Associate, you will be instrumental in addressing a significant volume of patient inquiries concerning billing for hospital and professional services.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Deliver exceptional financial experiences to patients by managing a substantial number of incoming calls and addressing inquiries with professionalism and cultural sensitivity.
- Communicate effectively with patients, guarantors, and both internal and external stakeholders to resolve billing-related questions and issues.
- Accurately document and respond to patient inquiries regarding their hospital and professional visits, ensuring a positive financial interaction.
- Leverage your knowledge of insurance communications, reimbursement processes, and healthcare coding to facilitate efficient account resolutions.
- Work collaboratively with various teams and departments to troubleshoot issues and update patient records in the billing system.
- Provide consultative services to ensure effective account resolutions that align with patient needs while maintaining Atrium Health's financial integrity.
- Meet and uphold productivity and quality assurance standards established by the Customer Service Department.
Qualifications:
This role primarily involves sitting, with some walking, extensive telephone communication, and interaction with patients and other parties. Minimal standing, bending, and reaching are required. A High School Diploma or GED is necessary, with a preference for candidates holding a bachelor's degree. A minimum of 2 years of customer service experience is required, along with 2 years of progressive experience in hospital or professional billing preferred. Familiarity with Epic's billing applications and knowledge of HIPAA regulations, medical terminology, and billing practices are advantageous. Bilingual proficiency in Spanish and English is a plus.
