Clark University is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Per Diem Central Utility Plant Operator to join our team. As a key member of our facilities department, you will be responsible for the operation and maintenance of our Central Utility Plant, ensuring the efficient and safe delivery of essential services to our campus community.
Key Responsibilities- Equipment Monitoring: Monitor and maintain the Central Utility Plant's steam, hot water, cooling, and cogeneration systems, including all auxiliary components, on a day-to-day basis.
- Equipment Preventative Maintenance: Perform routine maintenance tasks, including cleaning, painting, and lubricating equipment, as well as sweeping and mopping floors within the plant.
- Record Keeping: Maintain accurate records, logs, charts, and reports related to plant operation, including boiler water treatment tests and hourly readings on boilers, natural gas reciprocating engines, and generator equipment.
- Education and Experience: High school/vocational school diploma and a minimum of 2 years' experience in the operation and maintenance of cogeneration plant systems, high-pressure boilers, and related Central Utility Plant auxiliaries, or equivalent combination of training and experience.
- Licenses and Certifications: Must possess a Massachusetts Second Class Fireman's License or higher license.
- Physical Demands: Ability to lift 50lbs, bend, stoop, and twist on a daily basis, as well as stand, walk, or sit for extended periods of time, climb stairs and ladders, and open and close valves atop boilers.
- Preferred Qualifications: Basic pipefitting/welding skills and proficiency in computer applications, such as Word, Excel, CMMS, Email (Outlook), and common web-based applications.
The Central Utility Plant provides essential services to the University, and staff are required to work weekends, holidays, and emergency closings, as well as provide occasional coverage due to the absence of other operators and/or emergency maintenance response.
