PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES

- Utilize approved safety techniques to ensure the well-being of yourself, clients, and colleagues; work with youth who may exhibit challenging behaviors.
- Foster a constructive learning atmosphere, devising strategies to assist clients in managing stressful, social, emotional, and physical challenges in daily life, while promoting independence and skill mastery.
- Exhibit empathy and skills in supporting clients through their reactions to past trauma and emotional challenges, aiding in the therapeutic process by providing compassion, understanding, and a stable environment.
- Implement individualized Treatment Plans based on assessments from the Interdisciplinary Team, documenting all teaching strategies, behavioral systems, and client progress, while maintaining awareness of each client's current plan.
- Monitor daily medical, physical, and behavioral changes in clients; report any changes to the Supervisor, Program Manager, Clinician, and/or RN, ensuring accurate documentation in client files.
- When certified, administer medications to clients at scheduled times in accordance with established policies, documenting all medication administration accurately.
Adhere to prescribed behavioral and dietary plans for each client, assisting in meal preparation and supply procurement.
- Ensure cleanliness of the residence both inside and outside; assist with laundry and maintain the cleanliness of agency vehicles, reporting any maintenance needs promptly.
- Respect client privacy rights and comply with confidentiality policies.
- Conduct oneself professionally when interacting with supervisors, colleagues, clients, and their families, as well as community members.
- Supervise family visits as directed by the Program Manager or Clinician.
- Engage in mandatory training sessions, including in-services, staff meetings, and other required training as communicated.
- Accompany clients on various community outings and recreational activities using agency vehicles.
- Perform additional job-related duties as assigned by the Supervisor, Clinician, Program Manager, or other management personnel.
QUALIFICATIONS
Must possess a valid driver's license and maintain a good driving record.
EDUCATIONAL AND PROFESSIONAL REQUIREMENTS
1. An Associate's Degree is preferred, along with at least one year of experience in the Human Services field.
2. Required training for the Residential Support Specialist position includes:
A. Physical Management Training (PMT);
B. First Aid, CPR, and Medication Certification. CPR and First Aid must be obtained within 45 days of hire, and Medication Administration Certification must be completed within 4 months of hire, with all staff required to renew certifications as necessary.
- Attendance at all required training and in-service sessions is mandatory.
