Ultrasound Technologist

The Ultrasound Technologist will perform Ultrasound testing and treatment in accordance with regulatory guidelines, organizational policies, and procedures. This role requires effective communication with medical staff, other departments, and outside agencies while maintaining confidentiality.
Key Responsibilities- Ensure adherence to proper infection control, OSHA, and safety standards.
- Comply with established safety precautions at all times.
- Participate in discharge planning, patient care planning, and patient assessments as necessary.
- Interview patients or family members as necessary.
- Perform administrative tasks, such as completing forms, reports, and data input, filing, and faxing.
- Ensure patient safety and comfort while transporting them to and from the Ultrasound Department and Radiology Department.
- Coordinate US and radiology exams with other departments.
- Perform Ultrasound exams on patients as necessary.
- Brief patients or family members on procedures involved in Ultrasound exams and prepare necessary equipment.
- Maintain a current file of patients treated on an in-patient/out-patient basis.
- Act as a receptionist for patients in the Ultrasound and Radiology Department.
- Recommend equipment and supply needs to the Radiology Manager.
- Ensure the department is maintained in a clean and safe manner for patient comfort and convenience.
- Reassure patients before and during Ultrasound exams.
- Prepare patients for exams by dressing/positioning and administering radiology exams in accordance with established policies and procedures.
- Coordinate with other facilities to retrieve or send radiographs or reports.
- Assist in the distribution of transcribed radiology reports.
- Act as a preceptor for new team members.
- Participate in patient education, including family members when appropriate.
- Participate in continuing education.
- Perform other duties as assigned, needed, or required.
- Education level equivalent to completion of high school and completion of an accredited radiological technology program and/or Ultrasound program.
- Completion of an accredited radiological and/or Ultrasound technology program.
- Current BLS CPR certification and ability to satisfy State of Georgia, TJC, and Federal licensure requirements.
- Ultrasound registration or supervision by a registered Ultrasound Technologist as of January.
- Experience in healthcare/Ultrasound is preferred.
