Responsibilities

As a Diesel Mechanic/Technician, your primary responsibility will be to execute mechanical repairs efficiently and professionally.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct preventive maintenance and oil changes.
  • Lubricate trucks and trailers.
  • Perform tire maintenance services.
  • Execute CSA/DOT inspections.
  • Handle service calls and after-hours emergencies.
  • Diagnose and repair intermediate to advanced electrical issues.
  • Complete intermediate to advanced wheel end repairs (including S-cam/bushing replacements, spindle repairs, and bearing replacements).
  • Conduct intermediate air system repairs (basic diagnostics, tank replacements, air bags, leveling valves, dash valves).
  • Perform basic HVAC repairs (evacuate & recharge, verify failure causes).
  • Execute basic coolant system repairs (thermostats, water pumps, hoses, fittings, radiators).
  • Carry out basic welding tasks.
  • Address basic starting/charging issues (batteries, alternators, starters, diagnostics).
  • Complete basic engine repairs (belts, tensioners, pulleys).
  • Perform basic steering and suspension work (shocks, reservoirs, filters, alignments).
  • Execute basic drivetrain and transmission repairs (clutch adjustments, U-joints, carrier bearings).
  • Maintain a clean and organized workspace.
  • Ensure all service equipment (jacks, tools, trucks) are well-maintained and clean.
  • Properly store all parts and tires.
  • Complete work orders with necessary customer information, labor performed, parts used, and warranty details.
  • Uphold customer satisfaction and the integrity of Boss Truck Shops.
  • Adhere to all safety policies and procedures to maintain a safe environment for employees and customers.
  • Complete OSHA Skills Demonstration within the first week of employment.
  • Stay current on all required training.
  • Provide friendly and competent customer service.
  • Arrive for work punctually as scheduled.

Additional Responsibilities:

  • Assist with other tasks as assigned.

Supervisory Responsibilities:

  • This position does not have supervisory responsibilities.

Qualifications

Education and Experience Requirements:

  • Tire Service Certification by TIA within 18 months of employment.
  • Air Brake Certification.
  • DOT Medical Card is required.
  • Minimum of two years of experience as a diesel technician.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Valid driver's license with insurability.
  • Completion of brake training.
  • Completion of wheel seal training.
  • Ability to attend HVAC, Electrical, and DOT training.
  • Capability to obtain ASE, DOT, TIA, and other certifications.
  • Availability to work weekends, holidays, and as needed.
  • Reliable transportation and communication device.
  • Proficiency in English communication – IF APPLICABLE.
  • Willingness to deliver friendly, courteous, and prompt customer service.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with team members.
  • Must demonstrate proficiencies as outlined in the Tech I training program.
