Position Overview:
The Cardiovascular Intervention Technologist is a skilled professional who operates advanced medical equipment under the supervision of a qualified physician to assist in invasive procedures aimed at diagnosing and treating cardiac, neurological, and peripheral vascular conditions.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Prepare patients and set up hemodynamic devices during interventional cardiac procedures for heart disease diagnosis.

2. Support the physician during invasive interventions and perform related imaging tasks, including administering contrast to visualize catheter placement and documenting outcomes.

3. Monitor patient status, alerting the team to critical changes and providing assistance during emergencies (including CPR and defibrillation as necessary).

4. Assist in diagnostic, interventional, and surgical tasks as a scrub assistant, demonstrating proficient knowledge of equipment and supplies.

5. Input patient and study data into the radiology information system, ensuring accurate documentation of billing codes for procedures performed.

6. Process images as instructed, ensuring proper identification and labeling, including patient name, medical record, and scan location/position.

7. Ensure diagnostic quality of images and collaborate with biomedical staff to maintain consistent imaging standards.

Qualifications:
• Associate's degree in radiologic sciences or completion of a 24-month AMA-approved radiographic technologist program
• Registration with the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT), RT (R)
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association
• Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification within three months of hire
• Current state license as a radiographer

Physical Requirements:
• Ability to move freely (standing, stooping, walking, bending, pushing, and pulling) and lift up to fifty (50) pounds without assistance
• Job entails exposure to bloodborne pathogens while performing duties

Work Environment:
• Interaction with departmental colleagues and other healthcare professionals
• Potential exposure to communicable diseases in a healthcare setting
• Frequent contact with sharp instruments and mechanical parts, as well as exposure to fumes, airborne particles, and chemicals
• Occasional high noise levels

The Cardiovascular Lab is a dynamic environment equipped with four fluoroscopy rooms, providing intraprocedural care for patients undergoing minimally invasive procedures in Interventional Cardiology, Electrophysiology, Interventional Radiology, and Peripheral Vascular interventions. The team is dedicated to delivering care for various procedures, including cardiac catheterizations, pacemaker insertions, and other vascular interventions.
