JOB DESCRIPTION
  • Responsible for preparing and sterilizing operating rooms along with the necessary surgical instruments and equipment prior to procedures.
  • Assist in preparing patients for surgery, ensuring a positive patient experience.
  • Must possess BLS certification and be a certified surgical technologist.
  • Availability for call based on departmental needs, typically 4 weeknights per pay period and every other weekend.
  • Minimum of 3 years of surgical tech experience required, with competency in first scrubbing open heart procedures; TAVR experience is preferred.
  • Flexibility to float to three other hospitals as needed.

Roles & Responsibilities
  • Prepare sterile environments for surgical procedures.
  • Sterilize surgical instruments and equipment.
  • Ensure adequate supplies are stocked for surgeries.
  • Prepare patients by cleaning and disinfecting incision sites.
  • Provide assistance during surgeries by passing instruments and supplies.
  • Monitor and track surgical supplies effectively.
  • Stay informed on surgical technology, medical terminology, and procedures.
  • Collaborate effectively with surgeons, surgical assistants, nurses, and the surgical team.
  • Contribute to exceptional patient care.
QUALIFICATIONS
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification
  • Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS)
  • National Institutes of Health (NIH) Certification
  • Trauma Nursing Core Course (TNCC) Certification
  • Certified Principal Investigator (CPI) Certification
  • Strong understanding of anatomy, physiology, pathology, and medical terminology.
  • Ability to stand for extended periods.
  • Demonstrated technical skills.
  • Passion for patient care.
  • Completion of an accredited surgical tech program.
  • Minimum three years of experience as a Certified Surgical Technician.
  • Experience in cardiac and TAVR surgeries is required.

  • COVID vaccination with two shots and a booster.
