Key Responsibilities:
  • Supervises the bi-monthly and monthly payroll processing for multiple pay groups, directly overseeing a team of payroll professionals.
  • Ensures precision and punctuality of payrolls by collaborating with HR teams, scrutinizing payroll data, and reconciling outcomes.
  • Handles off-cycle payments and reviews all payroll voids and modifications.
  • Manages the settlement of payrolls and business expense reimbursements.
  • Initiates accurate and timely payment and tax submissions to relevant state and local authorities.
  • Prepares, verifies, and reconciles quarterly and annual tax filings at federal, multi-state, and local levels.
  • Investigates federal, state, and local tax regulations and compliance requirements.
  • Oversees the annual preparation of W-2 forms in-house.
  • Responsible for the creation and submission of IRS 1099-MISC forms for wages of deceased employees.
  • Configures and maintains payroll systems, including tax authority exceptions and payment rules.
  • Develops and maintains comprehensive payroll process documentation.
  • Supports the accounting department with general ledger analysis and account reconciliations.
  • Assists the budgeting team in forecasting salary and benefit expenditures.
  • Maintains a detailed list of departmental tasks and projects using a cloud-based project management tool.
  • Conducts special projects and financial analyses as needed.


Essential Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in accounting or finance from an accredited institution.
  • A minimum of five years of relevant payroll and accounting experience.
  • Proficient in payroll software systems with a solid understanding of payroll operations and compliance.
  • Exceptional attention to detail and strong analytical capabilities.
  • Equivalent combinations of education and experience may be considered.


Preferred Qualifications:
  • Certified Public Accountant (CPA) designation is preferred.
  • Experience with payroll systems such as Workday, including Time Tracking and Financials.
  • Familiarity with multi-state tax regulations is advantageous.
  • Experience with cloud-based project management tools is preferred.
  • Thorough understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and Governmental Accounting Standards Board (GASB) standards.
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
  • Strong research, organizational, planning, administrative, and communication skills.
  • A satisfactory criminal background check is required.
