About the Role

The Family Support Specialist at Texana Center plays a vital role in promoting and developing the skills of families with children who have emotional, behavioral, or mental health disorders. This position is responsible for assisting parents/caregivers in becoming advocates for their child, providing guidance on utilizing existing services, and helping them identify and organize natural resources within the family and community.

As a Family Support Specialist, you will engage with families in a peer mentoring capacity, facilitate the Recovery Process, and provide ongoing training to empower parents/caregivers to sustain success and improve outcomes for their child and family. You will also assist in developing Recovery Plans that incorporate strengths, needs, skills, supports, and resources.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist parents/caregivers in becoming advocates for their child
  • Provide guidance on utilizing existing services and identifying natural resources
  • Engage with families in a peer mentoring capacity
  • Facilitate the Recovery Process and provide ongoing training
  • Develop Recovery Plans incorporating strengths, needs, skills, supports, and resources

Requirements and Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in a related field (or equivalent experience)
  • Certified Family Partner certification (or willingness to obtain within 6 months)
  • Valid Texas driver's license in good standing
  • Parental experience with a child receiving services from a child-serving agency for mental health-related issues
  • Ability to articulate lived experience as a parent advocate

Benefits and Salary

This full-time position offers a competitive salary of $16.24-$18.05 per hour, depending on experience. Regular hours are Monday through Friday, 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM, with flexibility for schedule changes to accommodate appointments outside of routine work hours. A reliable vehicle and mileage reimbursement are provided. The Family Support Specialist is responsible for adhering to and promoting the Center's compliance policy.
