Pediatric Medical Surgical Nurse

About the Role
We are seeking a skilled Pediatric Med Surg Registered Nurse to join our healthcare team at St. David's North Austin Medical Center. Our nurses play a vital part in delivering high-quality, patient-centered care, and we are looking for a dedicated professional to join our team.
Responsibilities
- Assess and evaluate the patient's condition during admission and each scheduled shift, promptly identifying and reporting any changes in patient status.
- Perform procedures, monitoring, or other functions as ordered by medical providers, ensuring thorough and timely documentation of care administration in the patient's medical record.
- Administer prescribed medications, monitor the patient for therapeutic response, and take appropriate action in the event of an unintended response to the medication.
- Provide exceptional care by responding promptly to patient requests, proactively anticipating patient needs, and resolving them.
- Educate patients, families, and caregivers about the patient's medical condition, treatment plan, medications, possible side effects, and follow-up measures, ensuring complete understanding by translating complex medical terminology.
Requirements
To be eligible for this role, you should have:
- At least 1 year of clinical nursing experience as a Registered Nurse (RN)
- Experience in an acute care setting in Pediatrics, preferably
- 2 years of previous experience as Staff Registered Nurse (RN), preferably
- Current State of Texas Registered Nurse (RN) license or Compact Registered Nursing License, which must be obtained within 90 days of hire
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification, as per St. David's Healthcare policy
- Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification, as per St. David's Healthcare policy

St. David's North Austin Medical Center is a multi-specialty hospital in Texas with more than 360 beds. The facility is home to St. David's Children's Hospital, St. David's Women's Center of Texas featuring a Level III NICU, a Kidney Transplant Center, and the Texas Institute for Robotic Surgery. Additional services offered at this medical center include 24-hour emergency care, heart and vascular care, neurology and neurosurgery, rehabilitation services, and inpatient and outpatient surgery.
