Schedule Details/Additional Information:
This position is for a dual Ultrasound technician during evening hours. Flexibility in scheduling is available. There is no weekday on-call duty, but weekend on-call responsibilities occur overnight every six weekends, with one holiday on-call duty per year.

Key Responsibilities:
Effectively operates ultrasound machinery to conduct general, vascular, and/or cardiac examinations. Accurately distinguishes between normal and abnormal findings.

Reviews patient medical records to gather essential clinical information, including patient history, laboratory results, and physician directives. Engages with patients to obtain necessary clinical details and verifies requisitions against physician orders to ensure examination precision.

Positions patients appropriately and selects the correct transducer and technical parameters for precise ultrasound examinations. Adjusts settings to achieve optimal imaging results while ensuring the safety and comfort of the patient.
Utilizes cognitive sonographic skills to identify, document, and modify procedures as necessary based on anatomical, pathological, and diagnostic information.

Accurately labels images with patient identifiers, including name, medical record unit (MRU) number, and scan location or position.

Maintains records in compliance with various regulatory standards and inputs patient and study data into the radiology information system, documenting billing codes for procedures performed to ensure accurate patient billing.

Identifies equipment performance issues, communicates with relevant personnel, and assesses new products and equipment for potential future implementation.
Analyzes sonograms, synthesizes sonographic data and medical history, and conveys findings to the appropriate physician.

Must demonstrate the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age of the patients served.

Must exhibit understanding of growth and development principles across the lifespan and possess the ability to assess data reflective of the patient's condition, interpreting the necessary information to identify each patient's requirements relative to their age-specific needs, and provide care as outlined in departmental policies and procedures.

Licensure, Registration, and/or Certification Required:
Medical Sonographer (RDMS) registration with Abdomen issued by the American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonography (ARDMS) must be obtained within three months unless determined otherwise by the department leader, and
Medical Sonographer (RDMS) registration with OB/GYN issued by the American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonography (ARDMS) must be obtained within three months unless determined otherwise by the department leader, and
Vascular Technologist (RVT) registration issued by the American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers (ARDMS) must be obtained within three months unless determined otherwise by the department leader, or
Vascular Sonography (VS) registration issued by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) must be obtained within three months unless determined otherwise by the department leader, or
Vascular Specialist (RVS) registration issued by the Cardiovascular Credentialing International (CCI) must be obtained within three months unless determined otherwise by the department leader, and
Cardiac Sonographer (RDCS-AE) registration with Adult Echo issued by the ARDMS must be obtained within 18 months unless determined otherwise by the department leader, or
Cardiac Sonographer (RCS) registration issued by the Cardiovascular Credentialing International (CCI) must be obtained within 18 months unless determined otherwise by the department leader, and

Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Providers certification issued by the American Heart Association (AHA) must be obtained within six months.


Education Required:
Advanced training beyond high school, including completion of an accredited or approved Sonography program.

Experience Required:
No prior experience necessary.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Required:
Competency in all general and/or vascular sonographic procedures routinely performed in the hiring department.
Ability to exercise independent judgment to accurately differentiate between normal and abnormal findings.
Knowledge of aseptic techniques.
Ability to effectively communicate with patients and caregivers, demonstrating excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
Knowledge of and adherence to departmental, facility, and organizational policies and protocols.
Ability to prioritize tasks, work independently, and manage multiple assignments.
Flexibility in scheduling and adaptability to constant changes.

Physical Requirements and Working Conditions:
Must be capable of sitting, standing, walking, lifting, squatting, bending, and twisting throughout the workday.

Must be able to:
- lift up to 50 lbs. from floor to waist.
- lift up to 20 lbs. overhead.
- carry up to 40 lbs. a reasonable distance.

Must be able to:
- push/pull with 30 lbs. of force.
- perform a sliding transfer of 150 lbs. with assistance.
Must possess clear speech, vision, and hearing.

May encounter mechanical, electrical, chemical, and radiation hazards, as well as blood and body fluids; therefore, personal protective equipment must be utilized as necessary.

Operates all equipment necessary to perform the job.
