Position OverviewThe ideal candidate will play a crucial role in delivering high-quality imaging services. This position involves:
- Specialization: Obstetric and Gynecological Ultrasound
- Discipline: Allied Health Professional
- Work Schedule: 32 hours per week
- Shift: Daytime
- Employment Type: Staff
- Effectively operates ultrasound machinery to conduct obstetric and gynecological examinations, ensuring accurate identification of normal and abnormal findings.
- Reviews patient medical histories and gathers essential clinical information to ensure precise examination execution.
- Positions patients appropriately and selects the correct transducer and technical settings to achieve optimal imaging results.
- Utilizes advanced sonographic skills to identify and document anatomical and pathological details.
- Maintains meticulous records in compliance with regulatory standards and accurately inputs patient data into the radiology information system.
- Identifies and communicates any equipment issues and evaluates new technologies for potential implementation.
- Analyzes sonographic data and collaborates with physicians to discuss findings.
- Demonstrates a thorough understanding of patient care across all age groups, adapting practices to meet specific developmental needs.
Licensure and Certification:
- Must obtain Medical Sonographer (RDMS) registration with Abdomen and OB/GYN within three months of employment.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification for Healthcare Providers is required within six months.
Education:
- Completion of an accredited Sonography program beyond high school is mandatory.
Experience:
- No prior experience is necessary.
Skills and Abilities:
- Proficiency in performing routine obstetric and gynecological sonographic procedures.
- Ability to utilize independent judgment to distinguish between normal and pathological findings.
- Strong communication skills to effectively interact with patients and their families.
- Knowledge of department policies and the ability to adapt to changing circumstances.
Candidates must be capable of:
- Engaging in various physical activities such as standing, walking, lifting, and bending throughout the workday.
- Lifting up to 50 lbs. and carrying up to 40 lbs. over reasonable distances.
- Using personal protective equipment as necessary to mitigate exposure to hazards.
