The Home for Little Wanderers is seeking a dedicated Child Wellness Specialist to provide essential care for children at our Dorchester facility. This role involves supporting children and adolescents aged 8-15 who are navigating the transition back to their families or preparing for independent living.
Our program offers a structured, nurturing environment where children can thrive. They engage in community activities, including school and extracurriculars, while receiving comprehensive clinical, health, and educational services.
For over two centuries, The Home for Little Wanderers has been a beacon of hope for vulnerable children and their families. Our extensive range of community-based and residential programs supports thousands of at-risk youth, many of whom have faced significant challenges such as abuse, neglect, and trauma. As the oldest child welfare agency in the United States, we are committed to providing safe environments, nurturing relationships, and pathways to brighter futures.
Key Responsibilities:
- Administer medications to clients in accordance with MAP standards and document any medication refusals.
- Transcribe medication orders and prepare monthly medication sheets.
- Coordinate with the Nurse Monitor for pharmacy orders and ensure timely delivery of prescriptions.
- Assist families in scheduling and attending necessary health appointments for their children.
- Maintain health-related records and documentation for group home clients.
- Participate in residential treatment team meetings and assist with client admissions.
- Support families in providing required health documentation.
- Communicate updates regarding client allergies and health needs.
- Collaborate with school nurses and community health providers to ensure comprehensive care.
- Engage in special projects and additional duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
A high school diploma or equivalent is required, along with at least one year of experience in child care within a residential setting. MAP certification is mandatory.
Physical Requirements:
This position involves continuous walking, standing, and lifting for extended periods. Candidates must be capable of using appropriate techniques for physical restraint when necessary and must be flexible with work hours.
