Job Summary:

As a Child Life Specialist I at Boston Children's Hospital, you will play a vital role in providing emotional support and therapeutic activities to patients and their families. This is an exciting opportunity to join a multidisciplinary team dedicated to delivering exceptional care to our young patients.

Key Responsibilities:

• Participate in therapeutic activities and programs to meet patients' psychosocial and developmental needs, and facilitate adjustment to healthcare experiences.
• Serve as a member of the multidisciplinary team, collaborating with healthcare professionals to provide comprehensive care.
• Provide coping support for patients and families when faced with trauma or grief, promoting emotional well-being and resilience.
• Delegate work assignments to volunteers and participate in clinical training of student interns, fostering a culture of learning and growth.

Requirements:

• Bachelor's degree in Child Development, Child Life, or a closely related field with a concentration in child life.
• 600-hour Child Life internship under the supervision of a certified child life specialist.
• General skills to resolve problems requiring the use of child development theory, professional child life principles, and experienced-based knowledge.
• Well-developed writing skills, and excellent communication skills, including conflict resolution, to effectively work as a team member.
• Child Life Certification required within 1 year of hire.
