Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Clinical Education Manager to join our team at Owensboro Health. This is a critical role that requires a strong background in nursing education and a passion for developing and implementing clinical education programs.

Key Responsibilities
  • Hiring and Training: Hire, train, and manage the ongoing development and evaluation of nursing and support staff in the department.
  • Education and Training Needs: Identify and resolve issues related to education and training needs of clinical staff in collaboration with managers and directors of the nursing division.
  • Program Development: Manage the efforts of educators and support staff to facilitate the development, implementation, and evaluation of clinical orientation, nurse residency, ongoing competency validation, continuing education programs, and learning activities to meet identified staff learning needs, patient care needs, and regulatory requirements.
  • Policies and Procedures: Develop and implement policies and procedures to ensure efficient and effective delivery of services.
  • Budget Management: Monitor and adhere to annual hospital operating budget.
  • Expenditure Management: Monitor and/or approve expenditures, purchases, and other actions to ensure compliance with budget guidelines.
  • Liaison Role: Serve as Nurse Administrator for Kentucky Board of Nursing (KBN) Continued Education Providership.
  • University Liaison: Act as liaison for University of Louisville's BSN program at Owensboro Health, coordinating support for the program including instructional activities.
  • School Liaison: Act as liaison for and collaborate with region's schools of nursing to provide clinical opportunities for students and participate in advisory councils as requested.
  • Clinical Resources: Coordinate clinical resources to support the training needs of those programs.
  • Patient Education: Manage and coordinate patient/family education programming, improvement efforts, and provide staff with the education necessary for effective use of patient education resources.
  • Diabetes Education: Manage the provision of inpatient and outpatient Diabetes Education Services and staff.
  • Organizational Development: Collaborate with Organizational Development in the on-going provision and improvement of organizational orientation.
  • Regulatory Compliance: Ensure department compliance with regulatory and The Joint Commission requirements.
Qualifications
  • Master's Degree: Master's degree or higher in Nursing required upon hire.
  • Experience: A minimum of 4 years' relevant experience required.
  • Licensure: RN - Licensed as a Registered Nurse. Eligible to practice nursing in the State of Kentucky required upon hire.
  • Certifications: BLS - Certified as a Basic Life Support Healthcare Provider required within 45 days of employment in this position. BLS instructor - Certified as a Basic Life Support Healthcare Instructor required within 180 days of employment in this position.
