Job Summary

We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Respite Worker to join our team at the Mental Health Association of Columbia-Greene Counties Inc. The successful candidate will provide non-judgmental support to children and families, promoting trust, confidence, and self-acceptance.

Job Responsibilities
  • Provide respite services to children facing social, emotional, and behavioral challenges.
  • Build relationships with children and families, fostering trust and confidence.
  • Implement fun and age-appropriate activities, providing regular respite services in or out of the home.
  • Coordinate scheduling and transportation for children and families as needed.
  • Communicate regularly with supervisors and report any new situations or concerns.
  • Record accurate notes and maintain child safety at all times.
Requirements
  • High school diploma or equivalency, Associates degree in a related field preferred.
  • Experience working with youth and families.
  • Familiarity with recreational activities in Columbia and Greene County.
  • Flexibility with scheduling, including weekends and early evening hours.
  • Understanding of cultural family differences and values, with the ability to remain non-judgmental.
  • Knowledge of HIPPA privacy laws and ability to adhere to them.
  • Self-motivation and excellent communication skills.

Full-time Respite Workers are eligible for medical, dental, and life benefits, as well as pension and voluntary vision, life, and AFLAC plans. Part-time Respite Workers are eligible for voluntary dental, vision, life, and telemedicine plans, as well as profit-sharing and voluntary 401K plans.
