About this Role

We are seeking a skilled Commercial HVAC Journeyman Service Technician to join our team at Carrier. As a Journeyman with our company, you will play a critical role in ensuring the comfort and safety of our customers by providing top-notch HVAC services.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Inspect and maintain air-conditioning units to ensure efficient operation
  • Perform regular maintenance on heating and cooling systems
  • Diagnose and repair mechanical and electrical malfunctions
  • Install, replace, or repair damaged equipment and calibrate thermostatic controls
  • Install new heating, ventilation, and air-conditioning systems and repair or replace damaged or worn parts and equipment
  • Inspect and observe pressure of liquids and vapor with instrumentation to ensure efficient operation of units and make necessary adjustments
  • Maintain chilled and hot water supply systems
  • Adjust and maintain internal electrical and electronic control systems and clean coils, blowers, check motors, and belt tensions
  • Assemble and install metal ductwork
  • Assist in planning and designing new installations of heating and air-conditioning systems
  • Maintain maintenance records as required by City, State, and EPA regulations
  • Perform additional duties and responsibilities as required
  • Recognize and identify potential risks and hazards associated with performing all work-related duties safely
  • Work to mitigate potential risks associated with essential duties
  • Collaborate with management personnel to maintain safe working environments
  • Participate in a comprehensive OSHA-approved safety course and adhere to company and regulatory compliance programs
  • Obtain or carry low voltage electrical card, EPA refrigerant license, and any needed mechanical licenses for city or state work performed
Required Qualifications:
  • High School Diploma or GED
  • A minimum of 5 years practical working experience in the HVAC Industry
  • Must be able to lift 50lbs or more
  • Must be able to stand, crawl, sit, squat for extended periods of times
  • Possess and maintain valid and current Driver's License and be insurable by the company's insurance carrier
  • Must be part of or willing to join the Union
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience working with chillers and large building HVAC conditioning equipment
  • Principles and practices of Heating, Venting, Air Conditioning (HVAC) maintenance and repair; hazard and safety practices common to the trade
  • HVAC controls and safety devices; appropriate Safety Data Sheets (SDSs) / chemical usages; tools of the trade; materials and refrigerant recovery equipment and procedures used in installing, repairing and maintaining HVAC systems
  • Computerized electrical circuits and systems as they relate to air-conditioning, heating, ventilating, and refrigerated cooling
  • Sheet metal, electrical, plumbing
  • Basic understanding of building automation controls
