Swim Assistant

We are seeking a highly motivated and enthusiastic Swim Aide to join our team at the YMCA of Greater Boston. As a Swim Aide, you will play a vital role in assisting our certified aquatic instructors during swim lessons, ensuring a safe and enjoyable experience for our members.

• Assist Aquatic Instructors: Provide support to our certified aquatic instructors during swim classes, ensuring a smooth and safe learning experience for our members.
• Prepare for Class: Ensure all necessary equipment is available and ready prior to swim classes, and assist in putting away equipment after classes.
• Maintain a Professional Image: Maintain a professional image and manner consistent with the YMCA mission and goals at all times.
• Ensure a Clean and Safe Pool Environment: Ensure the pool area is clean and safe at all times, adhering to YMCA standards and regulations.
• Engage with Members: Engage in active listening with members to build relationships, understand their goals and interests, and take the initiative to assist in achieving those goals.
• Attend Mandatory Training: Attend mandatory monthly in-service training and twice-per-year association trainings to stay up-to-date on YMCA policies and procedures.
• Additional Responsibilities: May be required to work one-on-one with individual students during group classes, and perform other duties as assigned by management.

• Age: Must be at least 15 years old.
• Experience: No prior experience necessary.
• Physical Demands: Physically and verbally able to interact with members and staff, may be required to be in the pool for extended periods, and able to lift up to 50 pounds.
