Job Summary

We are seeking a Licensed Practical Nurse to work in a challenging yet rewarding environment, providing high-quality care to inmates/detainees. The successful candidate will work closely with our Registered Nurse to develop nursing care plans, perform physical assessments, and administer medications. The ideal candidate will possess excellent diagnostic skills, patience, and natural empathy.

Responsibilities
  • Develop nursing care plans with guidance from the Registered Nurse.
  • Perform complete physical assessments and medical histories.
  • Provide nursing care within your capacity and refer other medical problems to the appropriate physician.
  • Administer medications as instructed and take precautions against drug hoarding and trafficking.
  • Evaluate patients' symptoms, reactions, and progress, and report problems to management.
  • Document all detainee/inmate contacts and keep medical records confidential.
Requirements
  • Graduate of an accredited school of nursing required.
  • Current, unrestricted license to practice as a Licensed Practical Nurse in the state the facility is located.
  • Two (2) years of direct work experience as a Licensed Practical Nurse preferred.
  • Ability to work without direct, immediate supervision in performing nursing diagnosis and provide appropriate follow-through treatment.
  • Ability to work with computers and the necessary software typically used by the department.
  • Must be a United States citizen.
  • Must be at least twenty-one (21) years of age.
  • Must be willing to undergo a rigorous background investigation as required by U.S. Marshals.
