About the Role

We are seeking a skilled Certified Medical Assistant to join our team at Southcoast Health System, Inc. as a Patient Care Specialist. In this role, you will provide high-quality patient care and support to our medical office team.

Key Responsibilities
  • Under the direction of the Office Manager or Clinical Coordinator, perform a variety of medical assisting duties to support the assigned Medical Office(s).
  • Provide patient care and treatment under the supervision of primary care providers and nurses.
  • Assist providers with patient procedures and facilitate efficient patient flow through the clinic or medical office.
  • Communicate with patients via telephone, including communication of test results, surgery schedules, and procedures.
  • Update and access patient information using an Electronic Medical Record (EMR) and other related software.
  • Maintain patient privacy and confidentiality.
Requirements
  • Equal to completion of four years of high school or equivalent plus specialized courses and training.
  • National third-party certification, such as AMCA, AAMA, AMT, CCMA (NHA certification), or NCMA (NCCT certification), required within thirteen (13) months of hire.
  • Successful completion of a Medical Assistant Program or equivalent medical office practice experience.
  • BLS certification required.
  • Prior experience in using an Electronic Medical Record (EMR) and/or health-related computer software preferred.
  • One (1) year of medical assistance work experience preferred.
  • Fluent in a language other than English and Medical Interpreting preferred.
