POSITION SUMMARY
A Residential Support Specialist plays a crucial role in facilitating the coordination of living services and delivering care to individuals with intellectual and developmental challenges. This position necessitates attentive care and supervision of individuals within a residential environment.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
The responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
1. Respectful Engagement
Always treat individuals with dignity, respect, and compassion.
2. Daily Living Support
- Maintain and ensure the cleanliness and safety of the home and surrounding properties.
- Assist individuals with:
- Meal planning, purchasing, and preparation tailored to dietary requirements.
- Participation in leisure and recreational activities.
- Introducing new social experiences.
- Effectively managing social, emotional, and physical challenges.
- Daily living tasks such as dressing and personal hygiene as needed.
3. Documentation and Communication
All documentation is considered legally binding. Ensure accurate recording of individual data in the designated system and timely completion of all program documentation.
- Collect and document data relevant to behavioral programs, assess individual progress, and identify developmental needs and obstacles.
- Recognize and prioritize the needs of individuals.
- Complete thorough documentation.
- Report any medical or emotional concerns, including seizures or behavioral incidents, to the appropriate team members promptly.
- Ensure regular and professional communication with all team members.
4. Training Requirements
- Attend and successfully complete all mandatory training sessions required by the organization.
- Achieve and maintain certification in medication administration as required.
5. Confidentiality Compliance
- Safeguard the privacy of individuals, including health records and program documentation.
6. Additional Responsibilities
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Preferred Bachelor's degree or a High School Diploma with two years of experience working with individuals with developmental disabilities.
- Must possess or be able to obtain medication administration certification.
- Demonstrated organizational skills and effective communication with individuals and team members.
- Background checks will be conducted, and a valid driver's license is required.

- Understanding of developmental disabilities and related behavioral issues.
- Ability to exercise sound judgment and relate to individuals in a caring manner.
- Ability to work collaboratively with a diverse group of individuals.
