Reporting Structure:

  • Directly reports to the VP of Finance.
  • Manages the Accounts Payable/Payroll Specialist and Accounts Receivable Specialist.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Supervise and coordinate accounting functions to guarantee compliance with established accounting principles and internal controls.
  • Oversee general accounting tasks, including journal entries, account reconciliations, and financial assessments.
  • Lead financial audits, prepare necessary schedules, and revise internal control procedures.
  • Review and manage financial reporting, including tax submissions and grant documentation.
  • Provide strategic guidance and support to the VP of Finance regarding financial issues and policy modifications.
  • Facilitate training, development, and performance evaluations for accounting personnel.
  • Maintain essential administrative records and ensure timely completion of organizational paperwork.
  • Assist in financial forecasting, planning, and strategic consultation as required.
  • Perform additional tasks and special projects as assigned.

Essential Skills and Competencies:

  • Leadership: Demonstrated ability to motivate and manage a team, implement change, and foster strong relationships.
  • Communication: Excellent interpersonal skills with the capability to effectively convey information and engage with a diverse range of stakeholders.
  • Analytical Thinking: Strong problem-solving abilities and the capacity to manage multiple priorities.

Qualifications:

  • Education: A Master's Degree in Accounting, Business Administration, or a related discipline is preferred. CPA or CMA certification is advantageous.
  • Experience: At least eight years in financial and general accounting roles, with a focus on non-profit organizations. A minimum of five years in a supervisory capacity is required.
  • Technical Proficiency: Skilled in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook) and familiar with accounting software (Abila/MIP/Sage Software preferred).
