Military and Family Life Counselor

Magellan Health is seeking a highly skilled Military and Family Life Counselor to provide non-medical counseling services to children and youth of military service members at military installations and off military installations. The ideal candidate will have a Master's degree in a mental health-related field and a valid, unrestricted independent counseling license.
Key Responsibilities- Provide non-medical, short-term, solution-focused counseling directly to eligible children and youth of service members at assigned primary and secondary locations.
- Assess, brief counsel, and consult with parents, personnel, schools, and installation command regarding behavioral health issues affecting children and youth.
- Develop and maintain working relationships with community resources focused on children and youth and provide appropriate linkages.
- Participate in health fairs, base/installation activities, and provide training and health and wellness presentations focused on children and youth.
- Enter counselor activity data daily through a smartphone or web application to ensure accurate reporting while maintaining confidentiality and anonymity of service/family member.
- Master's degree from an accredited graduate program in a mental health-related field.
- Valid, unrestricted independent counseling license from a state, district, or territory that grants authority to provide counseling services as an independent practitioner.
- Minimum two years of post-licensure clinical experience.
- Ability to engage and communicate with military members or children as assigned, in order to accomplish job functions, and to respond quickly to emergent situations in any physical location on a military installation and/or within a school setting.
- Ability to work with individuals and families from diverse racial, ethnic, and socioeconomic backgrounds.
- Pass a National Agency Check and Inquiries (NACI) Clearance, and an Installation Records Check (IRC), Criminal Background Check, and FBI Fingerprints Check.
Magellan Health offers a comprehensive benefits package, including health, life, and voluntary benefits, as well as a competitive salary range of $59,922 to $100,280. This position may be eligible for short-term incentives and a tobacco-free workplace.
