We are seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Med Tech to join our Resident Care team at Watercrest Senior Living. As a key member of our team, you will play a vital role in ensuring the day-to-day medication management program of our residents is provided in an accurate, sensitive, professional, and effective manner.
Key Responsibilities- Medication Management: Distribute prescribed medication to residents and maintain related medical records under the supervision of the Resident Wellness Director, ensuring compliance with current regulations and the RIGHTS of medication.
- Medication Administration: Present medication to residents as required by the Medication Record (MOR) and observe ingestion or other application, or assist in the administration of medication using specified procedures.
- Vital Signs and Response: Take vital signs or observe residents to detect response to specified types of medications and prepare reports or notify designated personnel of unexpected reactions.
- Documentation and Reporting: Document reasons prescribed drugs are not administered, held, changed, disposed of, discontinued, or returned on the MOR, and review and participate in 24-Hour Reports, Daily Logs, Shift Cross-over Reports, and verbal reports as needed.
- Medication Accountability: Monitor medications to ensure adequate accountability measures are taken when medications are ordered, received into the community, administered, and at change of shift, as required by policy and procedures.
- Resident Rights: Respect the resident's rights regarding medication and notify the Wellness Nurse or Resident Wellness Director of unauthorized medication held by the resident.
- Professional Development: Seek advice from the Wellness Nurse or Resident Wellness Director prior to administering any medication that does not seem correct, and understand and explain the medication dosage/pharmacology when necessary.
- Additional Responsibilities: Assist residents with their personal care and activities of daily living as assigned and as requested by residents, perform daily housekeeping tasks as assigned using established procedures and standards, respond to resident emergency calls, assure that established infection control practices are maintained, report all hazardous conditions and equipment to the supervisor, and assure the equipment is cleaned and properly stored at the end of each shift.
- Education: High School Diploma or GED, Med Tech Certificate required per state regulations, and CPR certification/First Aid certification.
- Experience: Experience as a Resident Caregiver or Med Tech preferred.
- Physical Demands: Able to stand or walk 75% of the day, able to concentrate with frequent interruptions, able to work under stress and in emergency situations, able to work under conditions that require sitting, standing, walking, reaching, pulling, pushing, and grasping, able to talk and hear effectively, and occasionally lift/carry up to 50 pounds.
