Job Description:

As a Pharmacy Technician at Walgreens, you will play a vital role in providing exceptional patient care and service. Our pharmacy technicians enjoy a dynamic work environment, interacting with customers and developing strong relationships with patients.

With our "earn while you learn" Pharmacy Technician Training Program, you will have the opportunity to grow your career and reach your goals. This program is recognized by ASHP and the Department of Labor and will guide you in taking steps towards becoming a Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (PTCB) Certified Pharmacy Technician.

As a Pharmacy Technician, you will assist pharmacists in the practice of pharmacy, under direct supervision, in accordance with state and federal regulations. You will also be responsible for using pharmacy systems to obtain patient and drug information and process prescriptions.

Some of your key responsibilities will include:

  • Assisting pharmacists in the performance of other Pharmacy Department duties in accordance with Company policies and procedures.
  • Using pharmacy systems to enter patient and drug information, ensuring information is entered correctly.
  • Filling prescriptions by retrieving, counting and pouring pharmaceutical drugs, verifying medicine is correct, and checking for possible interactions.
  • Reporting, immediately, prescription errors to pharmacist on duty and adhering to Company policies and procedures in relation to pharmacy errors and the Quality Improvement Program.
  • Registering all related sales on assigned cash register, collecting and handling cash as required.

Requirements:

  • Must be fluent in reading, writing, and speaking English.
  • Requires willingness to work flexible schedule, including evening and weekend hours.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Prefer six months of experience in a retail environment.
  • Prefer to have prior work experience with Walgreens.
  • Prefer good math skills so they can fill prescriptions accurately, including counting, measuring and weighing medications.
  • Prefer good computer skills.
  • Prefer the knowledge of store inventory control.
  • Prefer PTCB certification.
