We are seeking a highly skilled Occupational Therapy Assistant to join our team at Northwestern Memorial Healthcare. As an Occupational Therapy Assistant, you will play a vital role in providing high-quality patient care and contributing to the success of our Rehabilitation Services department.
Responsibilities- Select and administer appropriate occupational therapy treatment plans to patients, providing education and support to patients, families, and caregivers.
- Work under the direction of a licensed occupational therapist to provide input on patient discharge plans and ensure seamless transitions.
- Provide clear and concise patient care documentation, adhering to departmental standards and regulatory requirements.
- Supervise support personnel and students within departmental clinical education guidelines.
- Administer direct patient care for an estimated 65% of hours worked, identifying opportunities for licensed physical therapist intervention and following through with care treatment plans.
- Complete all related medical documentation in a timely and accurate manner, adhering to established policies and procedures.
- Assist in monitoring quality management indicators and demonstrate competency through annual completion of written and/or demonstration-style competency examinations.
- Delegates responsibilities to support staff, promotes the philosophy and objectives of Northwestern Memorial Healthcare, and presents inservices to Rehabilitation Services department and/or NMH staff.
- Maintains open communication with internal contacts, participates in an ongoing mentorship program, and participates in applicable interdisciplinary rounds.
- Occupational Therapy Assistant Certification, NBCOT
- Occupational Therapy Assistant License, Illinois Department of Financial & Professional Regulations
- Basic Life Support - American Heart Association
- Associate of Science Degree in Occupational Therapy
