  • Assure the Department meets union contractual guidelines and regulations.
  • Prepare course goals, objectives, and revisions of educational and training programs.
  • Work with the Curriculum and Assessment Committees to ensure academic rigor and integrity.
  • Prepare the annual budget and supervise its implementation.
  • Critically review department records to evaluate the quality of education, research, and service.
  • Facilitate research programs and stimulate faculty participation.
  • Supervise and plan for department facilities.
  • Select and supervise department staff.
  • Assign duties to other members of the Department.
  • Maintain up-to-date departmental records.
  • Prepare an annual report on the Department's progress.
  • Recruit faculty and acquaint new faculty members with department and college policies.
  • Perform annual faculty performance reviews and make recommendations.
  • Organize the instructional schedule and delegate teaching responsibilities.
  • Evaluate student complaints and handle them according to standard institutional procedures.
  • Encourage and facilitate the professional development of Department members.
  • Establish and coordinate corporate and professional liaisons.
  • Present lectures, workshops, and laboratory exercises within the professional curriculum.
  • Assist the Dean with procurement and allocation of public and private funding.
Requirements:
  • A degree in Occupational Therapy and an earned doctorate in Occupational Therapy or a relevant field.
  • Current certification by NBCOT and a current Illinois occupational therapy license or eligibility.
Preferred Qualifications:

The ideal candidate will have a minimum of 10 years of experience in the field of occupational therapy, including practice as an occupational therapist and administrative experience, as well as at least 5 years of experience in a full-time academic appointment with teaching responsibilities, with a good track record of scholarship and grantsmanship.

  • Ability to effectively contribute to the Department, College, and University teaching, scholarly, and service activities.
