Job Title: Survey Technician II

Bowman Consulting Group, Ltd. is seeking a highly skilled Survey Technician II to join our team in Tampa, FL.

Job Summary:

We are looking for a detail-oriented and organized individual to perform a variety of tasks related to surveying and utility location. The successful candidate will work outdoors using electromagnetic equipment and ground penetrating radar to detect subsurface utilities, operate vacuum trucks, and perform utility mark out and surveying activities.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Perform work under moderate supervision, receiving direction on moderately complex assignments, tasks, and execution.
  • Locate underground utilities through nondestructive methods.
  • Operate Data Collectors and collect field measurements.
  • Record and document the underground utility field data accurately.
  • Train to operate and maintain company equipment and vehicles.
  • Train to meet company safety standards.
Requirements:
  • High school diploma or GED strongly preferred; commensurate relevant experience considered.
  • Three or more (3+) years as SUE Technician I or related experience.
  • Basic knowledge of Land Surveying.
  • Ability/willingness to travel for work assignments, including occasional overnight assignments.
  • Ability to pass pre-employment drug screening and random thereafter.
  • Valid driver's license with a clean driving record required.
Physical Demands and Working Environment:
  • Primarily outdoor work environment which may include adverse weather conditions, varying temperatures, excessive noise, and/or potential hazards.
  • Mobility around a job/construction site to include walking, bending, crawling, climbing, squatting, or kneeling and wearing of required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
  • Frequent and prolonged use of data collection equipment and/or drones, necessitating walking the assigned study area to complete data collection over the course of several hours.
  • Primarily local travel during the business day, although some out-of-the-area and overnight travel may be required according to the needs of the business.
  • Occasional lifting or carrying up to 20 lbs.
  • Occasional pushing or pulling up to 20 lbs.
  • Occasional reaching outward or above shoulder.
