Job Summary

The Department of Veterans Affairs is seeking a Registered Nurse to join our team in the Nurse Transition to Practice Program. This program is designed for post-graduate RNs who have completed an entry-level nursing degree and are looking to transition into full practice as a competent RN.

Key Responsibilities
  • Participate in a comprehensive developmental training program with didactic and clinical components to provide opportunities to perform procedures that are performed by RNs.
  • Work under the guidance of a qualified preceptor to develop skills and knowledge in key areas of nursing practice.
  • Attend classes and activities as assigned and complete assignments within the required timeframe.
  • Be available to work as scheduled on assigned units, including evenings, nights, weekends, and holidays.
Requirements
  • Current, full, active, and unrestricted registration as a graduate professional nurse in a State, Territory or Commonwealth of the United States, or the District of Columbia.
  • Graduate of a school of professional nursing approved by the appropriate accrediting agency and accredited by one of the following accrediting bodies at the time the program was completed by the applicant: The Accreditation Commission for Education in Nursing (ACEN) or The Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE).
  • Ability to distinguish basic colors, ability to distinguish shades of colors, and ability to hear (aid permitted).
