Tree Climber

The City of Worcester's Department of Public Works and Parks is seeking a skilled Tree Climber to join their team. As a Tree Climber, you will be responsible for performing a variety of manual tasks related to tree trimming, pruning, spraying, and removal within the city. This role requires a strong knowledge of tree climbing, trimming, treatment, and removal methods, as well as the ability to tie knots and work at heights. A valid Commercial Driver's License (CDL) is required for this position, and candidates must be able to pass a pre-employment physical, reference check, and CORI check. The starting hourly rate of pay is $21.16 per hour, with opportunities for overtime. If assigned as a Motor Equipment Operator, the hourly rate increases to $27.63-$31.19 per hour.

Key responsibilities of this role include:

• Performing tree trimming, pruning, spraying, and removal tasks within the city
• Operating a bucket truck and working at great heights
• Tying knots and working with ropes, knots, climber hooks, riggings, and tools
• Performing manual work requiring considerable strength and endurance
• Working in precarious positions and at heights
• Understanding and following verbal instructions
