JOB TITLE
Culinary Specialist - Line and Prep Cook

JOB DESCRIPTION
This position is essential for ensuring the quality, quantity, and timely delivery of food production within the establishment. Responsibilities include roasting, cooking, sautéing, grilling, frying, baking, and reheating, while also assisting in preparation tasks such as chopping, slicing, mixing, and blending. All activities must adhere to the company's standards and recipes, maintaining strict sanitary conditions.

POSITION REPORTS TO Kitchen Manager

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
 - Assist in training and developing kitchen staff alongside the Executive Chef and/or kitchen manager.
- Coordinate the work of Prep Cooks and General Utility workers to enhance production efficiency through daily assignments.
- Prepare food according to standardized recipes, ensuring all kitchen staff adhere to these guidelines.
- Oversee service presentation, ensuring proper use of pans/dishes, garnishing, and maintaining appropriate serving temperatures.
- Ensure the taste and presentation of all food items meet established standards.
- Expedite restaurant service as directed.
- Bake pizzas and other items using a traditional wood-fired oven, including regular maintenance and temperature logging.
- Maintain compliance with sanitation and safety policies, completing necessary documentation and logs.
- Ensure proper storage, labeling, and dating of all food items.
- Assist in maintaining cleanliness throughout the facility, including walk-ins and refrigerators/freezers.
- Check equipment for health and safety compliance and perform necessary maintenance.
- Assist management with timely notifications regarding food ordering and shortages.
- Maintain open communication with all staff members and management, fostering teamwork and a service-oriented attitude.
- Attend production and staff meetings as required.

QUALIFICATIONS:
 - Positive attitude and willingness to learn.
- Ability to operate necessary kitchen equipment.
- Strong teamwork skills.
- Availability for work as needed.
- Successful completion of food handler training is preferred.

SKILLS & KNOWLEDGE:
 - Comprehensive culinary knowledge.
- Precision in measuring and preparing ingredients.
- Proficient in using kitchen tools and equipment.
- Ability to read and follow recipes accurately.

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:
 - Minimum of 3-5 years of professional experience in a similar role.
- Preferred completion of formal culinary education.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
 - Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and frequently carry objects weighing up to 40 lbs.
- Requires standing for extended periods and performing repetitive movements.
- Exposure to hot and cold temperatures, as well as potential minor burns and cuts.
