Key Responsibilities
  • Prepare and cook food for catered events, ensuring high-quality presentation and taste.
  • Assist in the preparation of kitchen areas, workspaces, and event setups for food preparation and service.
  • Work closely with the catering sous chef and executive catering chef to ensure seamless food production and service.
  • Be willing to step in as needed to assist other back-of-house positions, including cooks, pastry chefs, and dishwashers.
  • Follow menu standards, standardized specifications, and ServSafe protocol to ensure food safety and quality.
  • Monitor the quality of food and service provided, making adjustments as needed.
  • Understand and implement safe food handling policies and procedures.
  • Manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines during each shift, maintaining a high level of productivity and efficiency.
  • Communicate effectively with team members and supervisors regarding event status, questions, concerns, and new ideas.
  • Build positive working relationships with coworkers, maintaining a professional and respectful demeanor at all times.
Preferred Qualifications
  • 2+ years of experience in food preparation or a related field.
  • Culinary school training or ACF certification.
  • Ability to obtain ServSafe certification within 1 year of employment.
  • Strong time management and organizational skills.
Work Schedule and Hours

The schedule varies depending on business needs, with catering employees required to work special events, including home football games, university commencements, and other large-scale events.

Physical Demands of the Position
  • Standing in a fast-paced environment for several hours.
  • Lifting items in excess of 50 pounds, with or without reasonable accommodation.
  • Stooping and bending to retrieve items from ovens, shelves, trucks, etc.
  • Sweeping and mopping areas daily.
