Job Description

Community Residences is seeking a dedicated and compassionate Residential Instructor to join our team. As a Residential Instructor, you will play a vital role in creating a nurturing and supportive environment for individuals with developmental disabilities.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Develop and implement individualized plans to promote independence and self-advocacy.
  2. Provide support and guidance to clients in daily living skills, including personal care, meal preparation, and household management.
  3. Assist clients with medical and behavioral needs, including administering medication and utilizing approved protective hold techniques.
  4. Monitor and report changes in client behavior and medical status to supervisors and medical professionals.
  5. Participate in training and professional development opportunities to enhance skills and knowledge.
  6. Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to develop and implement individualized plans.
  7. Ensure a safe and healthy living environment for clients.

Requirements:

  • High school diploma or equivalent required; Bachelor's degree in a related field preferred.
  • At least two years of experience in human services or a related field.
  • Valid CT driver's license and reliable transportation.
  • Ability to lift and transfer 70-75lbs.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Working Conditions:

This position requires the ability to work in a fast-paced environment and to adapt to changing situations. The Residential Instructor will be required to work a variety of shifts, including evenings and weekends.
