The Glen Retirement System is in search of a dedicated Housekeeper to join our full-time staff within the Village Health Care segment of our Long-Term Care Community. Previous experience in a similar role is advantageous.

WORK SCHEDULE: 7:00 a.m. - 3:30 p.m., 4 days on, 2 days off


KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

Perform a variety of cleaning and housekeeping tasks for resident rooms, communal areas, and facilities in accordance with established protocols.


Additional Responsibilities:

  1. Adhere to the designated cleaning schedule (daily, weekly, monthly, etc.) and deep-cleaning tasks for resident rooms as outlined by the housekeeping department.
  2. Conduct daily cleaning of assigned areas, including resident rooms, bathrooms, common areas, and office spaces.
  3. Maintain floors through dry mopping, wet mopping, sweeping, and scrubbing.
  4. Clean and sanitize both movable and stationary furnishings and fixtures in all designated areas.
  5. Disinfect resident beds and over-bed tables.
  6. Organize and rearrange furniture as instructed.
  7. Dust and clean all furniture and horizontal surfaces, ensuring spot cleaning and disinfection as necessary, including windowsills, ledges, shelves, and light fixtures.
  8. Empty, clean, and replace liners in waste receptacles throughout the facility.
  9. Inspect furnishings for wear and report any defects to the supervisor.
  10. Thoroughly clean bathrooms, including all fixtures, floors, and walls, while replenishing supplies as needed.
  11. Clean walls, windows, doors, and ceilings, performing spot cleaning and disinfection as required.
  12. Maintain cleanliness in entrances and exits of the facility.
  13. Execute make-ready cleaning procedures in resident rooms following discharges or transfers.
  14. Clean designated beauty shop areas as assigned.
  15. May assist in cleaning administrative offices, chapels, and conference rooms.
  16. Report any structural or equipment issues to the supervisor and request necessary repairs.
  17. Communicate supply and equipment needs to the supervisor for replenishment.
  18. Maintain cleaning equipment used in daily tasks.
  19. Manage lighting in assigned areas, including changing bulbs and ensuring lamps are operational.

Additional related tasks and responsibilities may be assigned as needed.


QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Availability to work overtime as required.
  • Strong organizational skills and self-motivation.
  • Ability to read, write, and communicate effectively in English, following both oral and written instructions.
  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Ability to perform job duties in a dynamic, high-traffic environment.
  • Capacity to lift and carry up to 50 pounds; push or pull up to 90 pounds.
  • Extensive walking, standing, bending, stooping, reaching, pulling, pushing, and sweeping.
