About the Role

We are seeking a compassionate and experienced Dementia Activity Program Coordinator to join our team at Williamsburg Landing. The successful candidate will be responsible for planning, implementing, and overseeing activities for individuals with late-stage dementia, ensuring their emotional, intellectual, physical, spiritual, social, and vocational needs are met.

Job Summary

The Namaste Care Activity Partner works collaboratively with the Memory Support Manager, Dementia Services Educator, and other members of the Namaste Team to develop and implement a diversified activity program. This role requires excellent communication and interpersonal skills, as well as the ability to work effectively independently and as part of a team.

Responsibilities

  • Develops, plans, and implements a comprehensive activity program tailored to meet the unique needs of residents with late-stage dementia.
  • Provides multisensory engagements that promote feelings of comfort, safety, and connection among residents, ensuring they have opportunities to engage meaningfully and avoid boredom or loneliness.
  • Works closely with the Namaste staff, Social Workers, and Culinary Services to ensure seamless programming and effective collaboration.
  • Contributes to documentation of assessments, care plans, and attendance records for all residents.
  • Develops a monthly calendar of activities and programs, scheduling and maintaining records for volunteers and outside contract services such as musicians.
  • Facilitates programs and guides other staff, family, and volunteers in delivering high-quality services.
  • Organizes Namaste activity spaces and materials needed for daily morning and afternoon engagements, ensuring a safe and welcoming environment.
  • Evaluates work processes and methods, submitting recommendations for continuous quality improvement.
  • Attends scheduled training programs for professional development, including trainings required by Williamsburg Landing and regulatory and accrediting bodies.

Requirements

To be successful in this role, you should possess:

  • Comprehensive knowledge of Alzheimer's and dementia issues, with the ability to work with and develop programs for residents with dementia, especially those in late stages.
  • Work experience in social/recreational programs with senior adults or in a healthcare setting.
  • Certified Recreational Therapist or Activity Director Certified, preferably.
  • Additional training or certification in gerontology or dementia, preferable.

Salary Information

This role offers a competitive salary starting at $18.00 per hour, commensurate with experience.
